Boss Mechanics

A Posture Bar With Armor On

The Marshall is the game's statement that weapon upgrades are not optional. His posture bar is thick enough that under-upgraded weapons visibly bounce, and his swing arcs punish the panic-roll habit the early game tolerates. The trophy name is the design brief: he is the last argument for everything the campaign has taught — parries, spacing, and showing up with a real weapon.

What His Openings Look Like

Community consensus: the Marshall's biggest openings come after his committed two-swing combination, which ends in a recovery long enough for a full punish string. His single pokes are traps — short recovery, fast follow-up. Read for the two-swing commit and live off its window.

Stasis converts his longest wind-up into a guaranteed stagger window. If you have been ignoring transmutations, this is the fight where they stop being optional.

Step-by-Step Strategy

The Universal Loop, Applied

Parry what is readable, dash the sweeps, and refuse to poke between his strings. Every stagger window should end in a critical finisher — against the Marshall, chip damage arithmetic simply does not reach a conclusion before your flasks run out. Circle toward his weapon side after big swings; the arc covers everything in front, almost nothing behind.

Preparation

A melee weapon at its current upgrade ceiling is the entry fee — the Bladesmith path exists for this fight. Full flasks, Catalysts spent, and one Stasis tool if your build supports it. This is also the community's recommended checkpoint for cleaning up Ambers and Guardsman hunts you passed on the way: his difficulty assumes a complete character, not a rushed one.
