Remnant of the Iron Regiment Character Guide

Type: Artillery

Threat: Severe

What the Remnant Is

Grotesque amalgams of infantry fused with artillery by the anomaly — the plague's crude answer to the question of what a cannon wants when it wants to walk. Remnants are walking siege pieces: heavy armor, heavy swings and attacks that treat cover as a suggestion. They are rare, they are optional in most routes, and they are unforgettable the first time one aims at you.

The Stasis Answer

The game ships a dedicated achievement for fighting them correctly: Statue of Insanity, awarded for fully locking a Remnant of the Iron Regiment in Stasis — held by 1.1% of players as of October 15, 2026. Stasis is the intended counter: a locked Remnant stops being artillery and becomes the largest posture bar in the regular game, and a stagger-critical on a stationary amalgam is as good as this game's damage gets. Stack your Stasis tools before the fight and spend them on the aimed attack, not the random flail.

The aimed attack has the longest wind-up in the regular game — that is your Stasis window. Lock it mid-aim and every follow-up hit you own lands for free.

How to Fight It

Without Stasis, the fight is positioning homework: circle behind cover between volleys, close during the reload rhythm, and punish the melee swings' long recoveries. Bring your highest-upgraded melee weapon — maximum Bladesmith-tier damage shows here — and consider the Blunderbuss for the point-blank punish after a whiffed swing.
